Live Custom Leather Art for Tandy Leather NYC Grand Opening

Live Custom Leather Art for Tandy Leather NYC Grand Opening

When Tandy Leather opened their new NYC store and workshop space, I was honored to be part of the celebration. As a brand known for its craftsmanship and creativity, Tandy Leather wanted their grand opening event to highlight both their products and the artistry they inspire. They invited me to create live customizations on their leather products for attendees, making the experience personal, interactive, and memorable!

Live Customizations with a Local Twist

During the event, guests could choose from a curated design sheet I created specifically for the grand opening. Each design featured NYC-inspired artwork, reflecting the city’s distinct culture. Attendees selected their favorite designs, and I customized Tandy Leather products live on-site, adding a personal touch to their items. This hands-on experience gave guests the chance to not only see their leather goods transformed but also connect with the creative process behind the customization.

A Custom Bag for their Store

Ahead of the event, Tandy Leather sent me one of their leather bag kits to customize in preparation for the store opening. The bag served as a eye-catching example of the potential of their products when paired with customer creativity. Since I had creative freedom on the bag, I decided to paint a landscape scene featuring a vibrant sunset, something I don’t often get to create on custom shoes.

Celebrating Craftsmanship, Community, and Creativity.

The Tandy Leather NYC grand opening was more than just an event—it was a celebration of creativity, quality, and community. By incorporating live art and locally inspired designs, Tandy Leather and I created an engaging experience that connected their products with the city’s unique spirit.

Being part of this event was not only a fun opportunity to showcase my work, but also a chance to inspire others to explore their own creativity. It was incredible to see how a blank piece of leather could be transformed into something meaningful and personal for each attendee.
