Custom Roller Skates for White Castle’s ‘Night Castle’ Summer Campaign
Collaborating with White Castle for their Night Castle summer campaign was definitely a highlight of my 2023. Working with such an iconic brand was a huge career milestone for me, and I was eager to use my creative expertise to create something absolutely unforgettable for them. The project centered on creating a one-of-a-kind pair of custom roller skates that embodied both the whimsical Night Castle theme and White Castle’s classic branding. This unique design challenge resulted in a vibrant, hand-painted creation that became a one-of-a-kind way to share about their summer campaign online.
A Dual-Purpose Design
The roller skates were designed with two distinct stories in mind. One skate was inspired by the playful vibe of White Castle’s Night Castle campaign and highlighted their retail products, featuring floating sliders, a glowing microwave, food packaging with angel wings, and of course- a disco ball. The other celebrated the brand’s iconic identity, showcasing classic menu favorites like sliders and fries, and even featured newer menu items like their chicken rings. Pulling it all together I had to include their timeless blue, white, and orange branding and logo.
Creating a seamless connection between these two contrasting themes required careful planning and design work which I spent over a week on. By blending bold colors and energetic details, the skates became a visual representation of White Castle’s playful yet timeless personality.
A Month in the Making
Transforming this vision into reality was no small feat. Every element of the skates was meticulously hand-painted, from the shimmering stars on the Night Castle side to the precise, realistic depictions of classic White Castle menu items.
The process spanned over a month, requiring patience and precision to ensure that every hand-painted detail reflected the care and creative effort I put into the roller skates and my partnership. The final result was a pair of skates that were not only functional, but also works of art that celebrated White Castle as a whole.
Bringing the Skates to Life Online
To enhance the campaign’s impact, we worked together to create photo and video content for White Castle’s social media channels. The content highlighted the skates’ intricate designs and explored the contrast between the whimsical Night Castle skate and the nostalgic classic branded skate.
The videos and photos provided a closer look at the creative process, giving White Castle’s audience a behind-the-scenes view of how the skates came to life.
Reflecting on the Experience
Partnering with White Castle on their Night Castle campaign was truly an inspiring and creatively fulfilling experience. Designing custom roller skates with two unique themes blended together, allowed me to push the boundaries of my artistry and design skills. The opportunity to work on such a bold and imaginative project reinforced my passion for turning everyday items into meaningful, eye-catching works of art.
