Custom Jordan 6s for Boxing Champion Amanda Serrano x Total Wireless
Share
When the Total Wireless team reached out about a project for Amanda Serrano, I didn’t have to Google her name to understand the weight of the opportunity. I may not follow boxing closely, but I did know who Serrano was, a multi-division world champion, and one of the most decorated fighters in the sport. So, to say I was happy to create a custom pair of Jordan 6s for this powerhouse? That’s an understatement.
The request came into my inbox ahead of Serrano’s highly anticipated fight against Katie Taylor on July 11th, and the custom shoes were meant as a special gift to honor the moment and her partnership with Total Wireless. A gesture of support, respect, and celebration for everything Amanda Serrano has achieved, and everything she’s about to step into.
The Design Approach
For this project, the Total Wireless team came to me with a clear vision, they had a specific design they wanted to see brought to life on the Jordan 6s. My job was to translate that concept onto the sneaker with the level of polish and detail that a moment like this deserved.
From using serious muscle to prep the base shoe (they sent me ‘Red Oreo’ Jordan 6s to work on), to executing the most clean paintwork and finishes, I made sure every element came out crisp. In addition to the custom colorway to match Total Wireless’ branding, we also included extra accessories to decorate the sneakers. As a nod to Serrano, we included Puerto Rican flag pins to attach to the custom printed Total Wireless shoelaces, in addition to a custom made boxing glove keychain that I handmade. Sometimes a custom doesn’t need flashy imagery to really pop, the clean colorway and accessories speak for themselves.
The Experience
Even though I’ve worked with numerous big brands and notable names before, this one stood out. Designing for someone who’s not just a world-class athlete but also a sneakerhead made the experience that much more meaningful. It’s not everyday that your art becomes part of a champion’s wardrobe, especially when that champion headlined one of the most anticipated fights of the year.
What made this all even more meaningful is that Amanda Serrano isn’t just an icon, she’s a fellow sneakerhead, and a woman pushing to reach the highest level in what’s often a male-dominated world. And in my own way, I’m trying to do the exact same thing. I’ve spent years building my art business and skills from the ground up, pushing myself, refining my craft, and finding ways to stand out in an industry where it’s not always easy to get taken seriously.
So creating this pair wasn’t just another project, it was a moment of pure alignment. One woman putting her mark on the boxing world, and another doing the same through art. That’s the kind of collaboration that sticks with you.
