Custom Denim Jackets for High-Profile Maybelline Brand Partner with a Fast Turnaround

When a team reached out on behalf of Maybelline New York, they had a fast-moving ask: could I design and deliver two custom jackets for a Maybelline brand partner.. in less than a week?

My answer? Absolutely.

Designing for a Special Client, a Brand, and a Deadline

After overnighting the jackets to my studio, I had less than 48 hours total to not only design, but also to begin and finish both custom pieces. Over the course of about 16 hours, I brought two matching but uniquely personal jackets to life, built around a galaxy theme that tied both the high-profile brand partner and Maybelline together. Due to the very tight timeline, I had to brainstorm a design that was really eye-catching, but also something that I could realistically create in about a day (and then double it)!

Each design was mainly centered around a pink and yellow Saturn, placed boldly on the back of the jacket. The color palette as a whole leaned into vibrant pinks and purples, the brand partner’s daughter’s favorite colors, matching both Maybelline’s brand tones and the outer space inspiration.

To individualize the jackets:

• Kellie’s jacket featured a spaceship
• Delta’s jacket featured a moon and stars
• Both jackets were topped with their names, each in front of their respective pinks and purples

I also added 3D glitter star elements, airbrushed star clusters, and tied it all together with Maybelline’s signature tagline:

 “Maybe it’s Maybelline.”

Turning Pressure into Creativity

This collaboration was equal parts thrilling and intense. The tight turnaround pushed me to work quickly without sacrificing detail, and I was genuinely proud of how much story and personality I was able to fit into such a fast project!

Working on custom clothes for a global beauty brand like Maybelline, and someone as inspiring as their brand partner, was a career moment I won’t ever forget!
