Custom Sneakers and Live Painting for Hooplandia at The Big E Fair
Partnering with The Big E Fair in Massachusetts on their summer basketball tournament, Hooplandia, was the perfect opportunity to use my live painting services for community engagement. Over two summers, I brought vibrant basketball-themed designs to life, creating a custom sneaker as promotion, and personalized items for tournament participants and fans. This partnership allowed me to not only showcase my artistry, but also enhance the excitement around the East Coast’s basketball event of the year!
Live Painting at The Big E Fair
Our collaboration began with their promotional activation for Hooplandia at The Big E Fair in partnership with the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame the previous summer. Invited to live paint during the fair, I created a vibrant basketball-themed sneaker that captured the energy and spirit of the sport.
The live painting experience was interactive, encouraging fairgoers to stop by, watch the process, and learn more about the basketball tournament. This activation built excitement around the upcoming tournament and served as a visual representation of the creative, high-energy atmosphere Hooplandia promised to deliver.
Returning for the Hooplandia Tournament
The following summer, I returned to The Big E for the multi-day Hooplandia tournament, which brought even more opportunities to connect with basketball fans and participants of all ages. This time, I expanded my work to include live customization of various items brought in by attendees. From sneakers and basketballs, to shirts and backpacks, each item was transformed into a unique, personalized keepsake for guests to remember their time at Hooplandia.
Throughout the event, I also showcased the basketball-themed sneakers I had painted the previous year, creating a sense of continuity and tying the activation to the tournament’s growing legacy.
Customizing Award Basketballs for Winning Teams
One of the most exciting aspects of my second year at Hooplandia was customizing the official basketballs awarded to each tournament-winning team. Using airbrushing techniques, I designed Hooplandia-themed basketballs that celebrated the event while giving winners a one-of-a-kind trophy to commemorate their victory.
