Angelus Direct x Sneaker Queens Customs: Custom Sneaker Tutorials, Techniques, and Tips on YouTube

Angelus Direct x Sneaker Queens Customs: Custom Sneaker Tutorials, Techniques, and Tips on YouTube

When Angelus reached out to collaborate on a series of custom sneaker tutorial videos for their YouTube channel, I was so excited to finally meet the people behind the Angelus name who had sponsored me as an artist, and get to work with them in person for the first time. They invited me to their headquarters in California to share my expertise with their global community of artists and sneaker enthusiasts, which was equally as thrilling as it was nerve wracking, because I had never flown on a plane before! This partnership was not only a chance to showcase my artistry, but also an opportunity to contribute to the ever-growing world of custom sneakers, so of course I hopped on that plane with enthusiasm!

Filming at Angelus Direct Headquarters

Being invited to Angelus’ headquarters in California was an exciting opportunity to step into the heart of a brand that has shaped the world of custom sneaker artistry, and gave me the tools I needed to create my art. Walking into their studio space, I was eager to get started on what would be a series of educational tutorials.

The goal was to share practical tips and techniques that artists of all levels could use to elevate their customizations. For each video, I showcased specific aspects of sneaker customization, such as:

How to paint on canvas shoes using their speciality products, like 2-Soft.

Paint techniques, like how to create a watercolor effect using their acrylic paints.

How to create in an abstract way with swirls.

Filming the tutorials and educational content was a rewarding process, as it allowed me to break down my workflow into actionable steps that others could replicate. Each video was designed to empower the Angelus community to take their custom artwork to the next level. Beyond sharing my skills, it was a great opportunity to connect with an audience who shares the same passion for unique creativity as I do!

Collaborating with Angelus to Inspire

Angelus has always been at the forefront of the custom sneaker community, and their YouTube channel is a key part of their mission to educate and inspire. My tutorials were designed not only to highlight their premium products but also to showcase how accessible and fun sneaker customization can be for everyone.

One of my favorite aspects of this collaboration was the ability to share techniques that beginners might feel intimidated to try, such as creating bold designs or working with specialty materials like canvas and different fabrics. I focused on breaking these processes down into manageable steps, encouraging artists to experiment and push their creative limits.

The Evolution of Our Partnership

What started as a single trip to Angelus’ headquarters in 2022 has evolved into an ongoing partnership. Now, I regularly produce YouTube tutorials for Angelus from my own creative studio back in Ohio. These videos allow me to explore new techniques and products, keeping the content fresh and relevant for the Angelus community, while also letting me experiment and have fun!

Some of the topics I’ve covered in these tutorials include:

How to best use their new glow-in-the-dark paint.

Tips and advice on starting a custom sneaker art business.

Summer DIY crafts using Angelus paints and dyes on unique materials.

By filming from my studio, I’ve been able to incorporate my personal style and creative process into the videos while continuing to connect with the Angelus audience.

Reflections on the Partnership

Collaborating with Angelus has been more than just a professional opportunity-it’s been a chance to give back to the community that has supported me so much as an artist. Angelus products have been a staple in my customization journey, and being able to share my knowledge and techniques through their platform has been truly rewarding.

This partnership has also pushed me to grow as an artist. By breaking down my process for tutorials, I’ve gained a deeper understanding of my workflow and the best ways to communicate my knowledge and educate. It’s been a unique challenge to translate my creative vision into step-by-step instructions that others can follow, and seeing the positive feedback from the community has been a source of ongoing inspiration!
